WGZE Indicators Work
Zooplankton time-series can be an important resource for the development of ecological indicators.
Developing a common set of zooplankton indicators from existing zooplankton time series data could highlight past and ongoing trends in the lower trophic communities, enhance regional and global assessments, and increase the value of zooplankton data in future ecosystem conservation and management decisions.
Based on available data in the WGZE-associated time series, it was possible to calculate the Mean Size vs Total Stock (MSTS) indicator for the most time series sites (see Figure 1).
During this first analysis, we used "total abundance" and "total biomass" to calculate MSTS indicators at each site.
